ORC – Organic Rankine Cycle
The ORC technology enables the combined production of electricity and usable heat from low-temperature heat sources. This form of cogeneration provides both economic and environmental benefits, especially considering current energy prices and CO₂ emission costs.
Key benefits of ORC in industrial facilities:
- Utilization of waste heat from technological processes to generate electricity for internal use
- Modular scalability according to customer power requirements
- Eligibility for “white certificates” – additional financial incentives for energy-saving modernizations
- Low required working-fluid temperature for electricity generation – starting from just 75 °C
How ORC systems work
- Evaporator
The working fluid transforms into superheated vapor. - Turbine
Expansion of the superheated vapor is used to generate clean electrical power. - Preheater
The expanded working fluid preheats the high-pressure liquid entering the evaporator, increasing system efficiency. - Condenser
Cooling via fan coolers or evaporative coolers; under certain conditions, the heat can be reused (e.g., building heating). - Pump
The working-fluid pressure rises after the pump, completing the ORC cycle.
Our service offering: We provide full project support – from feasibility assessment to system design and turnkey implementation.
Renewable energy sources in ORC technology
ORC plays a crucial role in reducing industrial energy consumption and enabling renewable energy production from geothermal sources, biomass and various forms of waste heat. Using renewable sources allows access to additional financial incentives, particularly through certificates, which we help our clients obtain.
ORC in geothermal applications
Geothermal energy is a natural heat source with exceptionally high potential. Poland – especially its southern regions – has significant geothermal water resources.
Our company was the first in Poland to design and implement an ORC system for geothermal electricity production with a capacity of approximately 180 kWe.
